On May 8, 2013 The Hebron Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for a working chicken house fire. Arriving units found a 3 story chicken house well involved. The burning chicken house was very close to another 3 story chicken house. Crews used and an excavator to knock down the end of the burning building closest to the 2nd chicken house. Ladder – 5 also provided a water curtain to keep the standing structure cool. Command 5 requested a water task force to be dispatched to the scene. Salisbury Engine 16-1 set up a draft at a pond just down the road for tankers to refill. Crews were on scene for nearly 4 hours. The one chicken house was a total loss.
Units on scene were Sta.5 Hebron, Sta.9 Mardela, Sta.12 Westside, Sta.14 Sharptown, Sta.11 Vienna, Sta.21 Linkwood, Salisbury Station 16 & 1, Sta.74 Delmar, Sta.81 Laurel, Sta.71 Blades and Sta.3 Fruitland.
