On April 14, 2013 Sta. 71 Blades along with Medic 102 and Trooper-2 were alerted for an accident with rescue on Airport Rd. Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle that had left the roadway and collided with a tree with major impact to the passenger side of the car. The male drive was trapped and unresponsive. EMS providers tried to stabilize the patient while the crew from Rescue-71 prepared to remove the driver’s side door to gain entry to the driver. 71-Command had Trooper-2 land in a field beside the accident scene. Once the driver was removed from the wreckage he was loaded in Trooper-2 and flown to Christiana Hospital for treatment. Airport Rd was closed for almost 2 hours during the alarm.
