Fatal House Fire - Laurel Delaware

On April 23, 2013 Sussex EOC alerted Sta.81 Laurel, Sta.71 Blades and Sta.87 Seaford for a structure fire on Cottage Circle Rd in Laurel Delaware. While crews were enroute the 911 center advised them there was an elderly female unaccounted for. 81’s EMS crew arrived on location to find heavy fire blowing out the front of the structure. The first due engine in from Sta.81 Laurel split crews and one did a fire attack while the other gain entry into the home from the rear door and started a search for the missing subject. Crews found the home owner unresponsive and carried her outside where EMS started CPR. The home owner was loaded into an awaiting ambulance and take to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford where she succumbed to her injuries.

The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
