On 7-9-2013 the Laurel Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a speeding motorcycle. The motorcycle sped off at a high rate of speed. After a brief chase the police office ended the chase due to speeds and concerns of public safety. A few minutes later the office came upon an accident involving the same motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle fail to make a curve in the road and lost control. He hit a driveway embankment and was ejected from the motorcycle. The driver and the motorcycle both traveled over 160 feet off the roadway and colliding with a utility pole. Sta.71 Blades was alerted for the accident. Delaware State Police helicopter was already in the air to assist with the chase and landed in a field near by. EMS packaged the driver from transport to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford Delaware where he was later transferred to Christina Hospital in serious condition. Concord Bethel Rd was closed down for nearly 2 hours while Delaware State Police could reconstruct the accident.
