On 8-5-2013 the Delmar Fire Department along with Sta.81 Laurel and Sta.5 Hebron were alerted for a house fire in the 200 block of Jewell St on the Delaware side of town. 74 units arrived on location to find a home that was built some time around the year 1900 with smoke coming from the eves. One subject from the home had to be helped down a ladder to escape the fire. Interior crews were able to rescue a litter of kittens from one of the apartments inside the home. 74 command requested Salisbury Sta.2 to the scene and crews from Sta.14 Sharptown and Sta.79 Gumboro for cover ups. Fire crews were on scene for nearly 4 hours. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
