On 3-8-2014 the Seaford Fire department held a controlled burn at an old farmhouse on Woodland Ferry Rd west of town. Senior members of the department used straw bundles to create small fires in single rooms and instructed and allowed the newer members to extinguish the fires. Crews performed about 10 interior attacks before the structure was allowed to burn to the ground. The newer members learned vital information during the training drill on how to read smoke conditions and how to feel and hear your way through a structure when the smoke is to think to see.
