DSFS Holds Women of the Fire Service Seminar

The Fire School held a Seminar regarding Women; Role in the Fire Service.  Angela Hughes, a lieutenant with the Baltimore County Fire Department was the featured speaker.  She spoke on the history of women in the fire service, the importance of women working together and IWOMEN, a national organization focused on women in the emergency services. This was not a career or volunteer seminar, but an exchange of information and ideas to enhancing knowledge, creating a sisterhood, and sparking  interest in advancing in the officer ranks. There were 25 students in attendance.  Senior Instructor Bill Walton said the Seminar was a huge success and other offerings will be coming on the topic.
