Vessel Fire - Bowers Beach/ Delaware Bay
The Bowers Fire Company along with the South Bowers Fire Company were alerted for a vessel fire off of Bowers Beach. Shortly after dispatch the Little Creek Vol. Fire Company and Leipsic Vol. Fire Company were also added to the response. Early reports indicated an unknown length vessel fully involved with 6 souls overboard. A Civilian vessel in the area was able to locate and rescue the 6 occupants with 1 sustaining burn injuries. Fireboat 40 arrived on scene and placed their bow deck gun in service to extinquish the fire. They then towed the vessel in to prevent it sinking and being a hazard to navigation. The one patient was transported by Ambulance 40 to KGH for treatment. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources will handle the investigation for this fire. -Robin Andino
