Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association Honors Winners of Its Fire Prevention Poster & Essay Contest On January 4th the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association Honored the Winners of its 2014 Fire Prevention Poster and Essay Contest. Conducted statewide it is believed to be one of the oldest Fire Safety Programs in the Country. Each grade is assigned a Fire Prevention Topic. Students K through grade 3 prepare a poster, students grade 4 thru 8 prepare an essay on their assigned subject. The event was hosted by the Hartly Fire Company with about 225 people in attendance.
