On 1/9/14 at 23:36 hours the Felton Community Fire Company was alerted for a MVC with a subject reported trapped. Due to the nature of the call, Kent County ALS, Magnolia EMS and Delaware State Police Aviation were also alerted. 48-17, Asst. Chief Chris Clough was the first to arrive on scene and confirmed he had one subject trapped. While assessing the scene he was advised of another vehicle approximately 100 yards down the road and well off the roadway with another patient that was trapped. Command requested an additional rescue and BLS units bringing in Rescue 55 (Magnolia) and Ambulance A-41 (Camden). Rescue 48-1 was the first arriving piece of apparatus and went to work popping a door on the first vehicle. Engine 48-4 arrived shortly after and went to work on the second vehicle. Upon arrival of Rescue 55, their crew assisted 48-4s crew with roof removal and dash displacement. The patient in the first vehicle was the priority patient and was flown to Christiana Hospital via Trooper 2 (DSP Aviation). The patient in the second vehicle was transported with ALS to Kent General Hospital. Crews operated for approximitely 45 minutes on scene. In all, two patients were transported and one patient refusal was obtained from a passenger in the first vehicle. Once all equipment was placed back in service the scene was turned over to DSP for investigation.
